WHAT IS LUCK??

What is Luck?

Have you felt lucky before? Or perhaps you’ve felt unlucky? What is this phenomenon that seems to define our good and bad experiences? The Cambridge English dictionary defines luck as ‘the force that causes things, especially good things, to happen to you by chance and not as a result of your own efforts or abilities’.

  1. Luck is when your unprepared and tough exam gets cancelled. I considered it as miracle when my public health dentistry exam got postponed..!
  2. Luck is when, you get an extra cookie in a biscuit packet, especially when you are dead hungry. A single extra cookie can be a feast..!
  3. Luck is when you receive 100rs after Google pay transaction instead of better luck next time. I only receive better luck next time, anyway…!
  4. Luck is when you attend a lecture late and yet get attendence. Bonus points..!
  5. Luck is when your parents let you to travel Goa with your friends. Purely out of syllabus..!
  6. Luck is when, your parents surprisingly accept your inter-caste, inter-religion love marriage with no objections. Wahh, bhaiyya, dope..!
  7. Luck is when, your boss rewards you with bonus and salary hike and deduce working days to 5 in least expected times. Budget strategy…!
  8. Luck is when your patients pay doctor fees without bargaining. Please, let it happen..!
  9. Luck is when festivals & public holidays fall on Mondays instead of Sundays. Long weekend, hehehe..!
  10. Luck is when IMAX provides you with free popcorn. Lucky couponsr

The Buddha considered that everything lucky or unlucky that happened to a person was the result of a specific cause and not due to luck, chance or fate. Luck is often associated with being rich or winning something.

The Buddha taught that good luck is about training your mind so that you can observe with clarity and that cherishing your family, helping others and developing your mind is more important than good fortune.

Buddha is often confused with the laughing Buddha who was a Chinese Buddhist monk and is represented by a gold laughing statue. According to legend, if one rubs the Laughing Buddha’s belly, it will bring you good luck, happiness and prosperity. There are plenty of other superstitions out there including lucky charms such as four-leaf clovers, horseshoes, rabbit feet and the lucky number seven.

Apart from rubbing Buddha’s belly and wearing good luck charms, is there another way in which you can catch a lucky break? Some people believe that a positive mindset has a lot to do with lucky outcomes.

The lucky or successful person has learned a simple secret. Call up, capture, evoke the feeling of success. When you feel successful and self-confident, you will act successful. Define your goal or end result. Picture it to yourself clearly and vividly. Then simply capture the feeling you would experience if the desirable goal were already an established fact. Then your internal machinery is geared for success: to guide you in making the correct muscular motions and adjustments; to supply you with creative ideas, and to do whatever else is necessary in order to make the goal an accomplished fact.
